Black-headed grosbeaks like this one visit our suburban village every spring and summer. We frequently hear them singing their trademark "drunken Robin" tune around dusk. Maybe they think it's wine o'clock.
About Douglas Fraser Smith
I began my photographic journey shortly after my brother received a Kodak Brownie Starflex camera as a birthday gift. I wanted one, too, but my parents thought I was too young to be capturing images on film. A tortured artist was born. Since then, the folks at Kodak, Canon and Sony have made a fortune while all I made was images (and, yes, a few dollars to fund the effort). I could go on about all the photography awards and honors I have received, but why? If you like any of these images, it won't be because I started early with my Brownie Starflex. They (my parents) never gave me one. It's true: they liked my brother best.
